More than 1,500 members strong The Minnesota Association of Nurse Anesthetists is a statewide professional organization of Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists (CRNAs) dedicated to promoting the profession of nurse anesthesia. Nurse anesthetists have been providing anesthesia care in the United States for more than 100 years.
More than 90 percent of this country's nurse anesthetists are members of the American Association of Nurse Anesthetists (AANA). Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists (CRNAs) are anesthesia specialists. They administer approximately 65 percent of the 26 million anesthetics given to patients each year in the United States. CRNAs are the sole anesthesia providers in more than 65 percent of rural hospitals in the United States, enabling these healthcare facilities to provide obstetrical, surgical, and trauma stabilization services.
CRNAs are the sole anesthesia providers in 53% of Minnesota hospitals, and provide anesthesia in a team approach in another 46% of Minnesota hospitals.
